We believe that a vibrant constitutional culture in India can only emerge when citizens engage with and understand India’s constitutional tradition and how this relates to our everyday lives. A critical strand in this engagement must include the cultivation of a broad humanistic temperament that enjoys a rigorous yet creative engagement with constitutional materials.

The CAD India website, set up in 2016, is a digital archive and database of Indian constitutional history with human-tagged original documents, that explains and illuminates the relevance of this history to our contemporary lives. Over the past few years, we have extended these materials to more than 20 annual workshops for students and teachers at schools and universities on developing appropriate methods of reading and analysing these materials.

This 'Indian Constitution in the Classroom' section of the CAD India website archives materials used at our workshops and also our continued efforts to develop curricular constitutional education content.

The materials are primarily pegged to and supplement the NCERT syllabus for Social Science and adopts an activity-based pedagogical model. The material is organised around grade and difficulty. Each exercise is presented in a readily downloadable and printable format along with a solution/ prompt sheet.

We encourage students, teachers and the general public to make use of the material widely, and write to us with feedback and suggestions.
